Hoverdia® Eighteen is not merely the placement of numbers (similar to Sudoku) but also involving simple addition and deduction (Kakuro). This puzzle is best represented by 8 long horizontal blocks and 8 long vertical blocks; and consist of 8 small boxes, which give the total of 64 boxes. All 8 long horizontal blocks and 8 long vertical blocks must contain all of the numbers from 1 to 8 inclusively without repeating any thereof - RULE ONE. The main puzzle with 64 boxes is also represented by 4 sub-puzzles which are called Quarters and each quarter is made up of 4x4 short blocks. For RULE TWO in each of the 4 quarters, all the blocks with 4 small boxes must be added up to the sum of 18 (Eighteen) not only horizontally and vertically but diagonally as well. RULE ONE and RULE TWO may be used interchangeably. Always start decoding with 4x4 box by applying RULE TWO first before counter checking with RULE ONE for the entire block with 8 boxes. It is an addictive mind game that involves both logical thinking and arithmetic solving in which activating not just the left brain, but the right brain as well.
